Review: Ice Cold by Tess Gerritsen

In this latest Rizzoli and Isles novel, Tess Gerritsen’s ingenious storytelling takes us deeper into a conspiracy that wiped out an entire community off the face of the Earth…

Let me tell the story in my own words...The story focuses on Maura Isles ( I love Maura!) this time around and a group of friends who decided to take a reluctant ski trip up in the mountains. Then, a totally unpredictable predicament happened on the way to their destination.  Their SUV had lost its balance and got stuck on a ditch. They were stranded in the middle of nowhere and almost as if the Gods had cursed them, the snow started falling and there’s no place to go for warmth and shelter.

When everything seems to be looking ill for them.  Maura spotted a sign that read “Kingdom Come”. It turned out to be an abandoned village of some sort.  When they went inside to investigate, they found houses of the same structure, eerily identical to one another…The village was like a ghost town, no signs of human life was to be seen.  When the group of friends stepped inside on one of the houses, they noticed something peculiar: a portrait of a man hanging on the wall, meals left untouched on tables, and cars are still parked inside their respective garages.  Something dreadful has happened to this village…

A very interesting story don’t you agree?  What could have drove these people away from their homes? So many questions bugged me while reading this book, it just keeps you glued to the story, I was totally hooked from the very start. This is vintage Tess Gerritsen. The characters are very realistic and you could feel the emotions they’re going through and they reacted differently on the situation.  I don’t know how Tess do it, but she created a book that all of us can relate to…In the face of fear and desperation…How can we survive in a place where all hope is gone?

I want to stretch out that Tess Gerritsen’s novels, just keeps on getting better and better through the years.  Each book promises new thrills and chills to keep readers interested, her impeccable writing propelled her to be one of the most recognized writers around.  And there are loads of writers out there,  but only a few managed to stay on top. To wrap it all up, Ice Cold is a devilish page-turner that kept me up all night long! Cheerz!

My Rating: 5 Stars
